Notifying your Students

Now that you have registered your tests, here is some important information to convey to your students.

The image is titled "Please Notify Students About." There are 4 squares lined up in a row to showcase the important details the instructor must advise their students when testing at the TTC: Students must schedule their test at least 3 days in advance as walk-ins are not accepted at this time. The list of permitted testing aids and making sure the instructor updates this on the test submission if there are any changes. The appropriate testing window, including dates and times. Late policy: students who are more than 15 minutes late will have their test session cancelled, no exceptions.

1. Inform students of your testing parameters

Every instructor and test is different, it is important to let your students know the following:
  • the testing window you established
    • e.g. August 27 – August 29
  • any required testing times or the permitted testing hours
    • e.g. required start time of 9 am
    • e.g. tests can be taken from 10 am – 4 pm
  • testing aids
    • e.g. one-sided handwritten note sheet, non-graphing calculator, etc.
    • to ensure smooth running of operations, please verify that the aids told to the students match the aids listed on the test submission
  • where they will be testing (TTC Pepper Canyon Hall Ste 364)

Students do not have access to your submission details. Students can only view the available testing dates and times and may be unable to view your testing window if seats are full.

2. Have students schedule their tests

Registering your test does not reserve your students' seats at the TTC. Let your students know that your tests are available for scheduling on RegisterBlast. Students must schedule their tests at least 3 days in advance of the testing day to reserve a seat. Students who miss the scheduling window can email us at tritontesting@ucsd.edu for further assistance, though seat availability isn't guaranteed on short notice. Walk-in appointments are unavailable at this time.

3. Advise if students must stay for the remainder of the test

Once students have submitted their test, they're free to leave before the scheduled end time unless directly notified by the instructor. If you would like students to stay at the TTC for the remainder of their reservation, let them know ahead of time so they can plan accordingly.

Remember:

  • this instruction must be listed in the submission for TTC staff.
  • we cannot withhold students past their scheduled end time. Note, students may have differing end times depending on your testing window and their accommodation.

4. Permitted Items

Students are permitted to bring:

  • approved testing aids (e.g. one double-sided note sheet)
  • approved OSD accommodated items (e.g. fidget device or medical device)
  • a clear, non-labeled water bottle
  • physical UC San Diego or government-issued photo ID
  • writing utensils.

All items are subject to inspection for compliance with accommodation, instructor, and TTC guidelines. Unauthorized items must be stored in the locker room.

5. Prohibited Items

Including but not limited to:

  • water bottles that are not clear
  • unlisted testing aids
  • unapproved testing accommodations
  • food and drinks (unless it is an approved OSD accommodation)
  • digital IDs
  • phones
  • watches
  • keys
  • wallets
  • artificial intelligence glasses
  • headphones/earbuds of any kind

The TTC has a locker room where students can keep all of their personal belongings. All items must be stored away to preserve the integrity of the test and to maintain a reduced distraction testing environment. Students found with any of these items upon check-in will be redirected to the locker room until the items are put away.

6. Late Policy

Students who arrive late will only be given until their originally scheduled end time. Students who are more than 15 minutes late to their test will have their test session canceled, no exceptions.

Rescheduling is possible but is subject to your approval and seat availability. For this reason, please encourage your students to show up 15 minutes before their start time to have ample time to store away personal belongings, ask any questions about their reservation, and check-in.

7. Have students make a copy of their note sheet

All note sheets brought to the TTC are collected unless stated otherwise in the testing instructions. If students are authorized to retain the note sheet after test completion, you will need to include this in the testing instructions on RegisterBlast. Students should plan to make a copy or take a picture of their note sheet before their reservation.

8. General Testing Day Policies & Procedures

Direct students to our Testing Day Policies & Procedures to know what to expect when coming to test with us. We encourage you to review the policies and procedures as well to understand the student experience further.
