In-class Testing Support

The Triton Testing Center (TTC) offers a team of trained student staff to support testing within your classrooms. Our Assistant Testing Specialists (ATS) can assist you with test administration and help ensure the integrity of the testing process. View the steps below to get started.

Complete the Testing Support Request Form

Complete the Proctor Request Form to request proctors for your test. Please keep in mind that busy periods, such as midterms and finals, can delay processing.

Things to Consider When Completing the Form

  1. We ask that you fill out the form at least 5 days in advance to provide ample time in locating a proctor. It takes time for us to search for available proctors as they assist us with in-class requests as well as staffing our two TTC locations. Our proctors are also students. They have classes they attend and often times their class times compete with the requests we receive, so it can be difficult to locate proctors.
  2. Remember to request proctors as needed. Our rule of thumb is to have a 1 proctor to 50 Student ratio. For instance, if you and your instructional team consist of a team of 3, then you and your team can proctor a group of 150 students. We are here to support you and other UC San Diego faculty and staff members. We will do our absolute best to fulfill the number of proctors requested, but we may have to allocate proctors amongst other instructors. We will do our best to provide you with at least 1 proctor.
  3. You can complete the form for all of the assessments you expect to administer in the quarter.
  4. Per Senate Policy, a faculty member must be present for the entire duration of the test. Instructional/Teaching Assistants and proctors must be accompanied by a faculty member. If you cannot be present, another faculty member can attend on your behalf.
  5. Proctor Pool cannot assist with accommodated or make up tests. Accommodated and make up testing can be done at our TTC Pepper Canyon Hall location, visit our Accommodated and Make up Tests (link) section for more information

After Completing the Proctor Request Form

You will receive an automated email with the general information you provided about your test. If you do not receive a receipt of your form, we did not receive your inquiry, and you will need to complete the form again.

Your request will be processed, and we will search for available proctors. We will follow up 3-7 days before your testing day with the proctor(s) we located for your test. This information will include the following:

  • Course Name and Type of Test (e.g. ECON 120B Final)
  • Date and time of the Test
  • Test Location
  • Name of the Proctor(s).

The proctors will be included in the email thread. Take this time to communicate any testing practices you want to implement for your test, last-minute changes (e.g. location), and any other information that will be crucial to your test session.

Testing Day

The proctors will arrive 15 minutes before the start of the test to meet you. They will be wearing blue TTC shirts and name tags so you and your team can easily recognize them.

Use this time to reiterate the testing practices you would like to follow. Please feel free to ask them for any proctoring tips and best practices, we're happy to help.

Once all of the tests are collected, the proctors are dismissed. Should the test session extend past the scheduled end time, please confirm with the proctor(s) if they may extend their shift as they may have a class or other commitment afterwards.

Should this occur, please let us know so we may update our records and timesheets.

Evaluation

Leave us a review! We want to know how we can improve our Proctor Pool Program and want your honest feedback. Whether it is to recognize a fellow proctor, address an issue that arose during your test session, areas for improvement, or general comments and concerns, we want to hear from you.

Why can't proctors help after the test has ended?
