Here are the answers to some of the most asked questions. If you can’t find an answer to your question here, email tritontesting@ucsd.edu or come into the Vvirtual Front Desk and we’ll be happy to provide you with an answer.
Typically students come to the TTC to take their accommodated or make-up tests. You will be informed by your course instructor and/or your academic department if you will be taking your test(s) with us.
Not necessarily. You'll be referred to the TTC by either your course instructor or the academic department. If you haven’t been told that you will be taking your test with the TTC, but you registered to take your test with us anyway, your testing session will be canceled.
The TTC offers make up tests for students who were unable to take their in-class test for unexpected and unplanned reasons, such as an illness or accident. Outside of this, the TTC doesn't offer unaccommodated testing.
For unaccommodated tests through the Computer-Based Testing Facility, please visit CBTF for Students (link).
We do require that students bring physical, photo ID. It’s preferable to use the UCSD ID, but we do accept government issued ID, such as driver’s licenses and passports.
Neither digital IDs nor photos of IDs will be accepted.
If you’re running late for your test, please notify us as quickly as possible either by emailing tritontesting@ucsd.edu or calling into the Virtual Front Desk . We allow a 15-minute grace period unless the instructor has advised us of a required start time. If you arrive within the 15-minute grace period, you're permitted to take your test, however you will only receive until your scheduled end time. No additional time will be granted.
All test reservations after the 15-minute grace period will be canceled, no exceptions. Rescheduling may be permitted; however, it'll be dependent on seat availability and instructor approval.
All tests administered by the TTC are proctored by real humans, either in person or on the other side of a camera (or both). This is to uphold the integrity of the exams taken in the TTC as well as to ensure your security and safety. It’s important to know that all test-takers and staff are subject to being recorded by video at all times while in the TTC.
No matter our proctors’ physical location, they’re there to promote an honest and fair testing environment. They’re also able to assist you with restroom breaks, questions for your instructor, or any other TTC related questions.
Please see our Testing Day Information and Hours & Location pages for details.
Yes, once you’ve completed and submitted your test to a TTC staff member, you’re free to leave.
However, some instructors require students to stay until a specified time. In this case, you will need to stay in your testing seat until the required time. This should be communicated to you by the instructor before your reservation and will be communicated by our staff during the check-in process.
Please note that if you leave the testing room without authorization by TTC staff, your test may be marked as complete and submitted as-is to your instructor and you may not be permitted to continue testing.
The test is scanned directly to your instructor within one business day.
Note: It's your instructor's responsibility to grade your test. You'll need to contact them if you have any questions or concerns regarding your score.
If your test doesn’t appear in the drop-down menu, it means that it hasn’t been registered by your instructor. Your next step is to contact the instructor of the course and request to have it registered with the TTC for scheduling.
Please note that test registrations are reviewed and approved by TTC staff within 1 business day.
There are a number of reasons why you might be unable to schedule your test.
At minimum, you're required to schedule your test at least 3 days in advance of the testing date. We recommend you schedule all of the tests you may have with us, including Finals, as soon as they are available on RegisterBlast as we reach capacity during Midterms (Weeks 4-8) and Finals Week.
We recommend instructors to register all tests they plan to administer for the quarter by the end of Week 2. If the tests aren't in RegisterBlast, you’ll need to reach out to your instructor as soon as possible. We can’t guarantee testing arrangements can be made on short notice.
If you know that you’ll be unable to take your test on the day and time you scheduled, please cancel your reservation as soon as possible. This will allow other students to access our services.
Be aware that canceling your testing session may come with considerable consequences: your instructor may not permit you to take the test at a different time, the TTC may not be available, or there may be other complicated factors. We encourage you to think twice before canceling and make sure you have a plan and have talked to your instructor before you cancel a testing session.
To cancel your test, log into your RegisterBlast account and select "Dashboard.” There, you will see an option to cancel any of your upcoming exams.
The TTC has two core responsibilities: maintaining the integrity of the test for instructors and providing a distraction-free environment for all test takers. Certain items can compromise test integrity or disrupt other test takers so we require all personal belongings to be stored away.
If you have an accommodation for an item, you're permitted to bring it to the TTC, however all items remain subject to inspection by a TTC staff member.
If you have an OSD approved accommodation for food and drink listed on your AFA letter for the quarter, you're permitted to bring food and water to your exam. All items are still subject to inspection.
If you don’t have an OSD accommodation for food and drink, then you may only bring in a clear water bottle and the label must be removed. Opaque water bottles and food or drink of any kind aren't permitted in the testing rooms.
Upon registering the test, instructors are required to provide a list of permitted testing aids to the TTC. You can also confirm the authorized testing aids with your instructor and ensure that they’ve updated the list with the TTC should anything change. Any items that aren’t listed as approved testing aid will not be permitted unless we receive an update from the instructor directly. Note, any aid that was previously listed may not be authorized for the next assessment.
Any OSD approved testing aids are always permitted.
